A Diet that Satisfies and Never Fails

We know what to avoid to live a healthier life. Keep away from animal fat, cholesterol, and excess sugar. If you miss the one failure I am going to address, you will never reach the zenith of the best diets. Stevia is a great way to skip those dangerous substitutes for a sweetener because it is natural and really works. Other things that have no place in what we eat are white rice, white bread and anything that will quickly convert to more than enough sugar. Sweet potatoes are far better than white potatoes for your health. And there is a myriad of fruits, protein sources and vegetables that are not commonplace on many American menus, but should be. Some of the lesser known grains with high protein are amaranth, sorghum and millet. Of course, those of you readers that are vegetarian or vegan know this. Nuts are great sources of protein. Roasted peanuts have 26% protein but some people have allergies to them. Macadamia nuts have 11%. Nut substitutes such as sunflower seeds contain up to 17% protein while dry roasted soybeans possess a whopping 40% protein. Beans are also great sources of protein. The average amount of protein is 9%. Garbanzos have 9% and cooked fava beans have 12.9%. You get 14% protein from cooked barley. I am not really trying to be your advisor for what physical foods you eat. What I am trying to help you escape is the most common cause of good nutritional lifestyle failure. All the information you need can be obtained by going on For the third time, my job in this article is to warn you of one widely neglected danger that threatens many people who otherwise eat well. The mistake so many humans make is that the body has three parts: body, soul and spirit. They have not understood that, “People do not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.”  (Matthew 4:4 NLT)

The scripture says, “Who can bear an afflicted spirit.” (Proverbs 18:14) We would not expect someone to process food in a nutritious manner if they had problems with their gastrointestinal tract or cancer of the stomach. How can we expect people to receive all the benefits of a good physical diet if their spirit is starving to death? It is not possible. A malnourished spirit is useless to man and in need of strengthening for God to be able to use. I have known people who look models of good physical health but have nothing worthy of display in the spiritual realm. In order to stand against the Goliath’s that sometimes confront us we all need to feed our spirit.

Christians, followers of Christ, who feed regularly upon His word and eat a vegetarian or vegan diet live approximately seven years longer on the average than people who do not digest every “word that comes from the mouth of God.” What does seven years mean to you? If you discover your purpose on earth, you will treasure every minute of it. The statistics I just quoted apply to both men and women.

In ancient times both a wheat harvest and the keeping of bread on the table throughout the meal were essentials. They were really pictures of how the Creator expects us to best live. We can see an example of this in Psalms 81:15-16. “The haters of the Lord should have submitted themselves unto Him so that their time should have endured for ever. He would have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should He have satisfied you.” This is a reference not to food for the stomach or the appetite, but food for your human spirit and your soul.

Jesus neither ate nor drank for 40 days yet God strengthened His Spirit, and even the angels ministered unto Him. God still cares about and wants to nourish your spirit. All the angels are ministering Spirits. Let Him and them feed you spiritually. Now for the icing on the cake.

Waiting for Dessert

We ate wonderfully well as children, thanks to Mother.  She could make cabbage or brussel sprouts sing; dehydrate corn off the cob that tasted like the best nuts, and allow us to eat fresh picked green peas raw. And, thank God, she rarely ended a meal, without dessert.  We sometimes enjoyed Lemon Curd on sliced banana bread, occasionally rhubarb pie, or less frequently, dark chocolate chip cookies (we knew little about the dangers of too many sweets back then). When she whipped up one of her special cakes, we all would watch in amazement and anticipation.  The batter would drool from the spoon as mother prepared to pour it into the cake pan and the most quiet and patient child got to lick the bowl.  I was the only one who hated that mess and while all the others watched as the bowl was licked clean, I awaited the unveiling of the frosted marvel.  If mom had left for an emergency, I feared my siblings would have busied themselves with drinking the bowl of uncooked batter! I don’t know about you but to me, a cake needs to be light and fluffy and have a very creative icing.

Jesus explained to His disciples that He was going to die and send another Comforter like Himself to them. This is like the batter becoming the cake. This Comforter was the Holy Spirit. As was often the case, the disciples didn’t get it. They had no knowledge of God’s ultimate destination in mankind. To clarify the situation, here’s the story. “If you love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father and He shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it sees him not, neither knows him: but you know him for he dwells with you and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.” (John 14:15-18) You may want to read John 14:28-31 and John 15:26. These scriptures have some real insights to help you believe in and be led by the Holy Spirit. Mark 16:12 says that after Jesus’ resurrection: “Jesus appeared in another form unto two of them, as they walked, and went into the country.” We must get to the place where we recognize Jesus in “another form.”

It is very interesting that two is the number of “witness” and the two disciples went into the “country.” We are called into a country. It is the land of promise. In Acts 1:4 the Holy Spirit is called “The (singular) Promise of the Father.” We may have lots of promises but this is The Promise: Acts 5:32 does not include the word maybe when it says, “God has given the Holy Ghost to them that obey Him.” Jesus’ final destination was to live in us as in the form of the Holy Spirit. You cannot normally have the Holy Spirit living in you and not know it. Excuse this example but you could not have a dancing giraffe living in you without you being aware that something very different had occurred. You could not know that you married a beautiful woman and that she even occupied a house with you, and ignore that reality. It’s too life changing.  Getting submerged with the Holy Spirit and having the Holy Spirit living in you forever is not something you can mistake for anything. And He will be with you forever. Just think of it, He will be with you forever! This is the final destination of Christ, Christ in you, the hope of glory (manifestation).

Between feeding upon the written and still small voice of the Christ and being filled continuously with the Holy Spirit will result if you obey Him, in becoming a manifestation of one of the sons of God. Surely if you care about animals, you share God’s concern. The whole creation including every creature, according to Romans 8:19 is focused and dependant upon the manifestation of the sons of God and that comes through the elements I have just mentioned. The water of the Word of God and the Spirit of God which is Jesus in another form, brings us into the spiritual realm where the only begotten Son of God and we join together as one spirit. (1Corinthians 6:17) People have given descriptions of the Trinity and then fought over them for generations. This following scripture will eliminate all of that striving. (1Timothy 3:16) This transformation and indwelling makes us act, behave and be one of the many sons of God which He is bringing into manifestation.

Without this diet being physically healthy won’t help much and won’t last more than our short life-time and won’t do the animals much lasting good. God says, “Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.” (Zechariah 4:6b) Participating in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit will equip you to live with Him (the Spirit of God). When you are thus filled you are given power which the Strong’s concordance defines as wherewithal, ability, or wonderful works.  To reiterate, we put so much emphasis, and indeed it belongs there, on the manifestation of the sons of God, yet so many Christians resist the Holy Spirit and mock its evidences and experiences. Until we embrace this third person of the trinity, we have swallowed the batter instead of enjoying the raised fullness of what Christ became. I don’t care if your grandma spoke grievous words against the Holy Spirit to you, all creation and every creature hangs in the balance and depends upon your receiving the Holy Spirit.

Dear Heavenly Father, In Jesus’ name fill me with your Holy Spirit and give me your heavenly prayer language for I know not how to pray as I ought. Amen
