The great and celebrated Jewish man, King David, was an adulterer and a robber for several years, and a murderer. Previously, I never understood why the Bible reveals so much of this sort of thing about so many individuals like Tamar (the incest victim), Rahab the harlot (Rahab only had clients), Solomon the womanizer (who had 700 wives and 300 concubines), and many others. Solomon, who rarely enjoyed the same woman on the same night, built the Holy Jewish Temple. David who committed the hideous crimes I have listed also went down in history as a great king. All of these malicious things he did could have been swept under the verbal rug, after all, the entire Bible is not supposed to be a scandal sheet. None of this despicable behavior is ever concealed. It took me a long time to understand why.

Once I was working south of the border when some disastrous news came to me. It knocked me off my spiritual legs and I committed a sin. I did not ask or expect God to forgive me. I told God, “When you judge me you’re judgment shall be righteous and know now that if you kill me, I deserve it.” On the plane coming home to the US a foreigner stood up and announced that the huge plane would crash and all passengers would be killed. After that she began hysterically weeping and wailing in a loud voice. All of a sudden the wings on the plane began shuddering like a moth over a campfire and the plane began to violently tremble. I imagined free-falling upon the giant boulders thousands of feet below the plane and my body rapidly coming into contact with them. Then I heard the voice of Jesus say, “I forgive you.” That would be the last thing in the world I wanted to hear or believed I deserved. I felt that no forgiveness was wanted or necessary because I knew I was guilty, but God insisted I was forgiven. Just as suddenly as the near calamity had begun, the plane stopped its quivering and we continued on to our destination with everything silent except for the proclaiming woman. That story happened long ago.

Recently a pastor, whom I know and who had been getting to know me said, “Of all the people I have ever known, you love Jesus the most. I have never met anyone who loved Jesus as much as you do.” I shrugged my shoulders and might as well have said, “Aw shucks folks, twern’t nothin’.” But I walked away feeling exalted above measure and so proud of myself because I know I really love my Heavenly Father. As the scripture says, “Pride comes before a fall.” Our love is not as stable as God’s love for us because of human weakness.

In 1John 4:10 it says, “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” Simply put it is not love that we love God, it is love that God loves us. The Bible says that His ways are not our ways. I may have a bit of a unique slant on how I see God but I cannot swear to that because I do not know how others all experience Him. This I know, that his ways are not our ways. You need to meditate upon and pray about all of the things God tells you to understand. If I was actually the person who loved Jesus the most this does not amount to anything. I believe that God does enjoy our love but we were not saved because we love God. We are saved because He loved us and will continue as long as possible. For God practically and in reality loves all of us who were sinners but He hates our sin. God loves us all without partiality including you and I don’t care if you can surpass Rahab the harlot, King David or Solomon his son for the amount of sinning you do. He hates your sin and He loves you very much.

There was a time when God thought that the best action to take was to remove all human beings from the earth. You can read about this in a few places, but particularly in Genesis 6:7a which says, “And the Lord said, I will destroy mankind whom I have created from the face of the earth…” He ended this scripture by saying, “It repents me that I have made them.” Unless you have thoroughly studied the scriptures you have no idea why God felt He must wipe us off the face of the earth. But we can see that by Abraham’s day (Genesis 22:2) God is telling him, “Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou loves, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.” Abraham was willing to obey God in offering up his only son because he foresaw the fact that God would need to resurrect Isaac from the dead in order for Abraham to become the father of many nations. Jesus said in John 8:56, “Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.” This means that Abraham, thousands of years before Jesus Christ manifested physically, saw that resurrection was part of His plan. The angel that stopped Abraham from killing his son told him, “God will provide Himself a sacrifice.” Then he saw a ram caught in the thicket. Jesus Christ the Lamb of God later became that sacrifice. He took all our sins upon Himself and gave us His righteousness. He then died for our sins and even more importantly, though it is infrequently preached He gave us His life in the form of the Holy Spirit. Romans 5:10 says, “For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.” God had come up with a better idea for which we can all be thankful.

When Adam fell he did not lose a religion he lost a kingdom. God is in the process of restoring that kingdom through the Holy Spirit. That’s what Adam lost, God’s Spirit. God is a Spirit and the Holy Spirit, of course is a Spirit. Something was added to the Holy Spirit which causes the inspired word to say for the Holy Spirit was not yet given but this means the Holy Spirit which had humanity added to its makeup. In one sense it was a new thing and in another sense it had always been. You will notice that the Holy Spirit talked with Adam in the garden. By receiving the Holy Spirit we are reconnected to communication from God in Heaven. This is why Jesus died for us: to reintroduce the promise of the Father, the Holy Ghost into our thinking cap and into our heart. He will teach us everything that we need to know.

In Genesis 3:8 the Word says, “When they heard the sound of God conversing with them and flowing upon the wings of the wind, they hid themselves.” The word cool out of the KJV means literally wind. The wording of the scripture I studiously take responsibility for and give some credit to the Message Bible for it. It is more than interesting when the Holy Spirit was delivered back to faithful people at the day of Pentecost that they heard a mighty rushing wind and the Spirit lighted upon them. Acts 2:2 says the believers heard this: “And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.” To me, this sounds like God the Spirit was in a mighty hurry to get back to earth and to fill everyone who wanted the Holy Spirit. He had been waiting many generations and He had provided the substitutionary death of His son to cleanse these human temples from all sin with His own blood so that His Holy Spirit could live in us and He could speak with us once again on a daily basis. Whether you like the wind or not it is a powerful catalyst for change. You may call them changes but what God wants to produce in your life by His Spirit is not merely change, but He calls it transformation. If you want to hear His voice, He will speak transforming words into your life and you’ll become a new creature, no matter what your past. One thing I can assure you of which I use in reference to hearing God’s voice is that, “The God of all grace, who has called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that you have experienced difficulty a while (in relationship to what you seek to achieve), God will make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.” (1Peter 5:10) You will hear His voice. When you complete the entire Bible you will find that two-way conversing with the Lord is one of the ultimate goals of God for humanity, instead of wiping us all out.

Revelation 21:3 says, “And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, behold the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them and they shall be his people and God himself shall be with them and be their God.” His Word says that this Holy Spirit gave us the power to become the sons of God. In fact He said don’t go to any of the places to preach the gospel of the Kingdom where I have instructed you to go until you have received the Holy Spirit. (Acts 1:4) When the Jews came out of slavery in Egypt and were about to enter into the Promised Land some said they would not go unless God went with them. Here we see God does not want us to go without Him. Jesus said, “Lo, I am with you always even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20) If you are worrying about the end of the world, you will find that it is not much spoken about in the Bible except in the matter of restoring the earth.

God loved us while we were yet sinners. This does not mean while we yet occasionally committed sin: it means that while our lifestyle was of sin or error God still loved us. As some theologians say today, God hates the sin but loves the sinner. Lamentations 3:22 says, “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not.” If you are a good car owner you need to occasionally take a look at the manual in order to keep it operating properly. God’s manual for us is His Word also called the Old Testament and the New. If you rightly respond to God you will honor Him by studying and meditating in His word.

Jesus said, “The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. (John 6:63) The Apostle Paul said in Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” Not only is this gospel of the kingdom which Jesus told us to preach, the power of God to all human beings but it is also the power of God to transform all creatures into harmonious living with humanity and humanity with them under the guidance of God’s Holy Spirit. (Romans 8:21) This is God’s gift to you to once again have Jesus Christ who the Heavens must retain until the restoration of all things spoken of by all the Holy Prophets ever since the world began, be able to direct your path through the person of the Holy Spirit just like He did Adam and Eve before they fell by disobedience. (See Acts 1:2)

Jesus is the gift and His Holy Spirit will lead you out of the wilderness you may be walking in so long as you make sure that it is the true gospel you are following and not what is so frequently preached today that certain apostles said is no gospel. What is this power of God that you receive when you receive the Holy Spirit? He shall teach you all things. It is the ability to understand the gospel. (John 14:26)  “For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, the just shall live by Faith.” (Romans 1:17) God did not destroy us all and He gave His beloved Son for us in our place for the wages of sin is death (which Jesus paid in full) but the gift of God is eternal life through His Son who imparted to us His righteousness. (Romans 6:23) His righteousness and His communication are something you get from the same person, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Perhaps this new month of this New Year you are going to get a new car, a new house, a new job or even a new location. What about getting a new life, for the gift of God is eternal life. It starts the moment you sincerely ask Jesus Christ to come in and deliver you and transfer you from the Kingdom of Darkness to the Kingdom of Light. 1John 5:20 says, “And we know that the Son of God is come and hath given us an understanding that we may know Him that is true and we are in Him that is true even in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.”

Our sins have already been judged. We have passed from judgment and we have not been judged. No wonder King David, the harlot Rahab and all the others mentioned in the Bible do not feel condemned by their sins. Jesus has paid the price. Our sins went on to Christ and received judgment. Christ suffered that judgment and we received God’s righteousness not our own righteousness which is worth about the same as used menstrual cloths. Jesus said in John 5:24, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that heareth my word and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” God’s only begotten son lived to do God’s will and those things alone which please the Father. It pleased the Father to allow Jesus Christ to die for us. He has proven the love which He has for us. If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us, not by some respect of persons, but because sin has already have been judged. In order to be saved by grace through faith, we must trust in the love the Father has for us. The word salvation also means complete wholeness and we are made completely whole through our faith which makes us whole.  Gifts are only worth something in the hand of the receiver. I love the fact that we are the receiver and we can get on the receiver and hear God’s voice at all times. Jeremiah 33:3 is often touted as God’s telephone number. It says, “Call unto me and I will show you great and marvelous things that thou knowest not.” Stay in touch for more messages on how to walk in all that God has given you through His Son who brings to you newness of life and life eternal in Jesus’ name.
